Write for us
We welcome thoughtful pitches about countryside change and rural life: the land, work, seasons, local services and shared resources that shape a place. A good proposal has one clear subject, a useful point of view and a reason it will interest readers beyond a single passing moment.
Subjects that suit us
We are interested in accessible pieces that help readers notice, compare, understand or plan: a careful explanation of a rural custom, a comparison of approaches to a low-stakes everyday choice, an account of how a practice developed, or a seasonal subject grounded in ordinary observation. We are less suited to pitches that depend on professional advice, local rules, unverified claims or a single place standing in for every rural community.
A useful pitch
Tell us the proposed subject, the central idea, the likely reader and what makes the piece distinct from an existing article. Include a brief outline of the main points and the kind of material you would use to support factual claims. Keep the proposal focused; a small subject treated well is more promising than a sweeping account of all rural life.
How to send it
Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. A pitch is a proposal, not a commission, and sending one does not guarantee publication. Please include any relevant interests or relationships that could affect how readers understand the piece.
